Most cars worldwide include at least one of our products - for a good reason. For more than 70 years Benteler has been working for, with and in the automotive industry. We develop and produce components, modules and systems for ride and handling, safety and emission.

The Benteler Automotive Industry entered the Chinese automotive market at the beginning of 2002. It established its first joint venture of components and spare parts with SHANGHAI HUIZHONG AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING CO., LTD, a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.

In 2005, with the business expansion in North China, Benteler established the second joint venture with a famous local stamping manufactory company of component & spare parts in Changchun. Within the years afterwards, Benteler’s each product group developed in China in all round way. Three wholly owned plants were set up in Shanghai, Fuzhou and Chongqing one by one.

And now, Benteler’s advanced technology of welding, laser cutting, hot forming and painting have been introduced and merged into the five plants of China. With these advantages, the three groups of our products, chassis, structure and exhaust system have gained the dominant position in the Chinese market.

Accompanied by the continuous business exploration and order booking, we are looking forward to embracing our first press plant in China located in Shanghai, a JIS chassis plant in Changshu which will be a supplier to Chery, an original equipment manufactory, and the first hot forming plant located in Wuhu.

Meanwhile, Benteler’s R&D team in China is also booming prosperously. It does research and development for new passenger vehicles suitable for the local market with international famous as well as local OEMs.

Here is a short overview of our product groups:

CHASSIS SYSTEMS develops and manufactures components, modules and systems made of steel, stainless steel and aluminum. We are market leader for integrated chassis modules.

STRUCTURES develops and manufactures innovative structural components, optimising weight and crash performance.

ENGINE & EXHAUST SYSTEMS covers systems and components for gas/air recirculation, fuel distribution as well as water/oil cooling focuses on the „hot end“ of the exhaust system with emphasis on emissions control including boosting technologies. We are one of the largest suppliers of fabricated exhaust manifolds in stainless steel.

MODULES is producing more than nine million modules annually for practically all large automotive manufacturers underlines our broad experience in the global module business. By handling diverse systems, the Modules Product Group offers customers everything from one source: from simple assemblies to complete system integration of highly complex modules into the exterior and interior of passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

BENTELER-SGL, the joint venture between Benteler Automotive and the SGL Group, is a competent partner for cost-efficient total solutions of fiber-composite components, from the initial design to series production. We work out technically and commercially optimal solutions for our customers based on state-of-the-art developmental and technological expertise. Extremely light, robust, stable, and with almost unlimited possibilities for use: carbon is a genuine material of the future.

BENTELER ENGINEERING SERVICES is a leading centre for global automotive development. Its specialisation includes Chassis Systems, Powertrain, Body & Exterior, Interior & Climate, Spare Parts and Complete Vehicles.

BENTELER MECHANICAL ENGINEERING is an internationally successful supplier for the automotive and the glass industry. Among our customers are automotive manufacturers, their suppliers and subcontractors as well as the entire market of the flat glass processing industry.

BENTELER DEFENSE: Wherever people work in crisis regions, safety is of the utmost importance. With the development and production of satisfactory protection solutions for various customers and market segments, Benteler Defense contributes to making vehicles safer for their occupants. Apart from civil motor vehicle applications, we offer components and systems for paramilitary and military vehicles as well as for special applications such as building protection. Our range of services extends from component delivery to the development of complete protection concepts for entire vehicles, including prototype production and qualification.
