Head of Innovation Project
 

Position Description & Responsibilities:

He/She will be responsible for the leadership to provide facilitation & needs driven development for innovative eco-solutions to eco-city stakeholders thru collaboration with the partners from internal and external of Siemens (like CT, Siemens BUs, top institutes and universities worldwide, start up), to support the initiative towards an Eco-City standard in China with promotion of innovative technologies.

 

Primary Roles/Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning:

       Collaborate with executive management and department leaders to assess near- and mid-term

        needs.

       Create the project plan as it relates to the innovative eco-solutions.

       Work collaboratively with partners to align technical solutions and offering.

Lead Innovation Project:

Excellent presentation skill ( for development and delivery) required as participation in project acquisition and other public speaking opportunities is expected.

       Systematically collect & understand customer needs from city stakeholders for future Eco-city

       products and solutions

       Develop innovative ideas

       Identify innovative eco-technologies from inside & outside of Siemens  that could benefit

       Siemens & stakeholders

       Conduct technical and business feasibility study via benchmarking

       Communicate with customers & stakeholders to validate the concept

       Initiate and manage the R&D project for future eco-city products/solutions

       Guide team and partners to bring projects to a successful exit with IP consideration

      Provide technical direction for lab assistants/engineers

      Support to demonstrate innovative solutions for future Eco-city

      Collaborate with local & abroad top universities/institute for research projects

 

Qualifications:

 

     Ph.D. in Electric Engineering, Thermal Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environment Engineering, Building Environment & Equipment Engineering, Architecture Technology & Science or related fields, from a top-ranked university with an outstanding publication record, or MBA with outstanding technical knowledge and experience.

       Excellent communication skill in both Chinese and English

       Able to sell complex technical ideas over the phone in English

       10 years of overseas or Multi-International Company working experience in at least 2 of the following fields: information, computing, communication, control for one or some of the areas on building, energy, environment, water, security or transportation (including e-car, e-bus, ITS,…)

       Demonstrated R&D project management skills

       Proven abstraction and analytic skills with open mind and ability to think “outside the box”

       Demonstrated capability to create innovative technical solutions

       Demonstrated tenacity and flexibility to rapidly and reliably achieve goals

       Team builder with highly effective interpersonal skills

       Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills; must be able to interact with high-level executives

       Working experience on sustainable city for a major city player with demonstrated results in related areas is a plus

       Deep understanding of needs of Chinese Eco-city (future) market is a plus

       Knowledge of various eco-city practices and standards/regulations in China and abroad is a plus.

 

Desired Skills/Competencies:

       Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain sustainable city related knowledge

       Willingness to travel 15-30% of the time.

       Network of eco-city stakeholders and/or partners from top institutes and universities worldwide. 

       Ability to backfill or interact with one or more other practice areas.
